| Q&A: What Do I Need To Know About Level 1? |
Q: My teams are still not sure about their projects. Should we register? A: Yes! It’s ok to not have everything ready right now, but schools must register by October 28th to save them a spot at Level 1 |
Q: Can we register our projects, but then change the title or focus before the November 18th Level 1 event? A: Yes! It’s absolutely ok to keep iterating and fine tuning the title or focus of your projects right up until presentation time. |
Q: Is it ok to just submit placeholders in the registration? A: No. Having a real working title (other than generic “Project A” or “Project Title TBD”) is an expectation. Remember, titles can be adjusted later. |
Q: Do we need to plan on being out of our building for the STLP Level 1 Regionals event on November 18th? A: No. Level 1 happens 100% remotely. Judges from around the state connect to online meeting rooms and hear from your students who remain at school. Do plan ahead now for those students to be out of class for a period of time that morning (schedules will release closer to the event). |
Q: I’m nervous the students won’t be ready in time and I don’t want to commit now and have to drop out later. Should I even register? A: Yes! Registering now means your still providing an opportunity for your students. Why take that opportunity off the table when you can reserve space for them now? |
Q: Do I need to know who we’ll submit as our volunteer judge at the time of registration? A: Yes. Remember, the only price of admission to STLP Level 1 is to provide someone to help us hear presentations and give feedback during Regionals. For info about judges and suggestions about who makes a great STLP project judge, check out the Judge Info Page in the Project Toolkit. Judges will be needed from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 1:00 p.m. ET on November 18…so consider requesting a sub for your judge now. |

| Level 1 is the progress-report stage of Kentucky’s STLP project cycle. Teams share what they’ve started, what they’ve learned, and how they plan to develop the project toward Level 2. Judges are looking for a clear plan and evidence of progress- not a finished product. |
