Now Accepting STLP Engineer Applications
September 28, 2026
Application Deadline: November 1, 2026
We’re excited to release the STLP Engineer/ Ambassador applications for STLP26-27!
The STLP Engineer/Ambassador program gives high school students an opportunity to take on a leadership role within the statewide STLP community. These students will serve as student leaders, representatives, and helpers throughout the STLP experience while developing leadership, communication, collaboration, and technology skills.
What is an STLP Engineer/Ambassador?
STLP Engineers/Ambassadors are high school students who want to take their involvement in STLP to the next level. They will help represent STLP, support other students and coaches, and contribute to the overall experience at the STLP State Championship and other STLP activities.
Students selected for the program will have opportunities to:
• Serve as student leaders and representatives of STLP throughout the year
• Help support and lead STLP activities and events including the STLP State Championship
• Serve in advisory capacity for student voice with KDE Office of Education Technology
• Build leadership, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
• Connect with other student leaders from across Kentucky
STLP Engineer/Ambassadors meet with Kentucky Commissioner of Education, Dr. Robbie Fletcher, at KDE in Frankfort, Feb. 2025
Who Can Apply?
The program is open to high school students who are actively involved in STLP and demonstrate a willingness to lead, communicate, collaborate, and represent the STLP program.
We are looking for students who are enthusiastic about STLP and interested in helping others have a great experience.
What Are We Looking For?
• Positive and enthusiastic
• Comfortable communicating with others
• Responsible and dependable
• Willing to take initiative
• Team-oriented
• Interested in technology and student leadership
• Excited to represent STLP and their school
What Will Engineers/Ambassadors Do?
Selected students will receive additional information about their specific responsibilities and opportunities. Activities may include assisting with STLP State Championship events, helping students and guests navigate the event, supporting STLP activities, and serving as student representatives of the program.
This is a leadership opportunity. We want students to have meaningful opportunities to contribute to STLP and develop their own leadership skills.
Important Information for Coaches
Please share this opportunity with students at your school who may be a good fit for the program.
Coaches should encourage students to carefully consider the commitment involved before applying. Selected students will be expected to be dependable, engaged, and willing to participate in assigned activities.
Additional information, including selection details, annual commitment schedule, expectations, State Championship responsibilities, and the application packet can be explored on the STLP E/A Info Page https://stlp.education.ky.gov/engineers.
Thank you for helping us identify the next generation of STLP student leaders. We’re excited to see students from across Kentucky step into this opportunity and help make STLP an even stronger experience for everyone.
