You Belong! Attendance Matters Update:
What Keeps You Connected?
Kentucky students have powerful stories to tell about belonging, connection and the people, experiences and opportunities that make school feel like a place they want to be. Building on last year’s You Belong! Attendance Matters poster and video contest, and the student perspectives shared through the Student Voice Lab, STLP and KDE are expanding the challenge this year to give students more ways to explore what creates connection and belonging at school.
Students will investigate one big question: What keeps you connected? They may explore relationships, activities, goals, barriers, or other experiences that shape their connection to school. Students can gather peer perspectives, explore data and patterns, conduct research or combine approaches, then choose the format that best communicates what they discover.
Projects may take many forms, including digital storytelling, photography, infographics, multimedia, coding, design, and more. The goal is to elevate student voice and help schools better understand what helps students feel known, valued, supported and like they belong.
Take the Lead: STLP E/A Applications Open

Learn About E/As ➔

The 2026-27 STLP Engineer/Ambassador (E/A) application window is now open! E/As are some of STLP’s strongest high school student leaders, combining technology skills with leadership, teamwork and a willingness to represent STLP at events across Kentucky.
Applications are open to STLP students in grades 9-12, with up to two applicants per school. Encourage students who are dependable, comfortable helping others and ready to take on a statewide leadership role to consider applying.
